How RIGA IFF Film Club was made

From January until June 2022

We created 10 video lectures – they were made just like any other film, beginning with an original script (by Laura Elcere), then a special set was built and participants chosen. Studio fon Films and director Una Rozenbauma supervised and took care of the smooth run of the filming which ran several days

From June 2022 until January 2023

While the filmed material was being edited, film experts Diāna Lielmane, Dace Čaure and Laura Elcere created worksheets, intended to structurise knowledge, obtained from video lectures. Project's partners and friends from the Norwegian Film Club Association suggested the best Norwegian children's and youth films, which we acquired for the platform – they illustrate the filmmaking techniques described in the lectures. While we wrapped up content, some of Latvia's best designers from Associates Partners et Sons together with programmers Krists Kondrāts and Edgars Simsons worked on the design and its implementation of Film Club's platform (we use CineSend for secure viewing of films). Artist Marta Folkmane created several illustrations exclusively for the project.

From April 2022 until March 2023

In order to make sure that RIGA IFF Film Club content is interesting and can carry away its audiences, we regularly organized focus groups with children and youth in different Latvian cities – Rīga, Valmiera, Rēzekne Kuldīga.

In October 2022 and January 2023

Together with project partners from Norway we presented the RIGA IFF Film Club in film festivals in Riga and Tromso. In Tromso we had the pleasure of hearing feedback and suggestions from the organizers of different Norwegian film clubs.

The platform of RIGA IFF Film Club is available to teachers and students all across Latvia starting from April 2023.
